ASTRAEA II is run on an integrated project approach. The nomination of lead roles is intended to ensure compliance with the requirements of the funding mechanism. The overarching collaboration agreement underpins this relationship which is not that of a Prime Contractor / Sub-contractor relationship between Partners and does not imply the vesting of all Intellectual Property in any single party.
ASTRAEA II will follow a similar organisational structure to that adopted for the first phase. A lesson learned from ASTRAEA I is that it would be beneficial to introduce minor changes to minimise management overheads and concentrate funding on technology development, thereby providing best value for money. The most significant change is its description as a single project. The top-level management structure for the programme, shown below will remain unchanged as this structure has been demonstrated to work well.
